Ann Curry

Ann Curry is a photojournalist as well as a journalist, author and has been covering war zones for the past forty-five years. Her research focuses on human suffering as well as disasters. Curry reported on wars from Kosovo, Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, (born November 19th 1956, Agana American journalist and television news reporter and anchor who is most famous for her work as a reporter on the Today show a morning news show that was telecast through the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry was well-known for her reporting about natural disasters as well as war devastated countries. Curry was born in Japan and brought up by an Japanese mom. Her father was a U.S. Navy sailor. Her mother was working with the father of her parents in Japan following World War II. As a result of her father's military service the family has moved around several times. Curry finished her high school education within Ashland Oregon. She graduated in 1978 from her school at the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She was exposed to different cultures and environments during her growing up years probably contributed to her empathy that she has for issues of international significance. Curry could not be a student at a particular school in Alameda, San Diego Oregon, or Virginia for two years because her family relocated frequently. Ashland was her last high school. In Medford the following year, she began her broadcasting career at KTVL Channel 10 as an intern. When she was 22 she was the station's first female reporter. In Portland, Oregon she was appointed anchor as well as a reporter for KGW the NBC affiliate. The following year, she relocated to Los Angeles as a reporter for KBS-TV. It was during her time with the channel for a period of the duration of six years that she won the two Emmy Awards.
